Perhaps you’ve been on a mission’s team and wondered how you can continue to stay involved with Beyond Partnership. Or maybe you are not able to travel but you would still like to be a part of someone else’s life in the majority world. Beyond Partnership has a Pastor’s Children Education Fund. We partner folks from the USA with Pastor’s Children in Guatemala to help send one (or more) of their children to school. It is a yearly donation of $250. (Monthly donations are also possible).
School begins in Guatemala in January. At that time, half of the money is dispersed to the pastors. The other half is saved until the middle of the school year. Every Pastor in the association receives help. Because the older kids need more money and the younger kids need less, your donations are averaged out. This also assures that no one goes without. You will then be partnered with a child and receive a picture and an interview of that child.
The pastor's children's education fund was started by request of the National Leadership in Guatemala. Pastors there make very little money and many sacrifice greatly to do the work of the ministry. The public school system still requires each child to have a uniform, buy their own paper, pencils, and various other school supplies that we don’t pay for in our public school systems. Often times Pastor’s are surviving on less than $200 per month and the cost of sending their kids to school can be overwhelming or even impossible. While we believe that every child deserves a good education, the children’s fund goes beyond sending a child to school. It is directly providing a small amount of relief to a pastor who has not only placed himself in a position of sacrifice, but he has brought his family along with him. When asked what his greatest fear for his children was, Pastor Jerson, said “I fear that my children will see how hard the work [for the Lord] is and they will lose their love for Him.”
